Old Fluff The red-haired maga descends from the carriage, her face covered with a kerchief against the ash. A monastery burnt to the ground? Hermetic magic was not the cause of this, but perhaps the infernal. A crackle runs through the air and a brilliant flash of light strikes head. An attack? No, her senses would have warned her. When her species of sight and echo returned, she saw the child. At surface level there was nothing more than blood and ash, smeared across rubble. To her however, the beauty of the gift blossomed in full.

Xander sits between the crenels on the roof of his new tower, gazing at the oncoming storm. His white vestments billow with the moist winds. What did tomorrow hold? His visions were murky, a sickness, fire, betrayal, and the purifying light of god. No matter. His faith is strong, stronger than his body, stronger that any opposition. He will protect his covenant and his fellow magi, he will stop the plague, he will stop the fires and he will reach heaven.
